Four finalists are moving forward in the search for the next superintendent/elementary principal of Waitsburg School District. Following a formal search process that began in January, the Waitsburg School Board of Directors have selected the following candidates to move forward into final interviews:
- Aaron Chavez, Superintendent/Principal, Excelsior Holistic School, WA
- Rebecca Estock, MTSS Implementation Program Supervisor, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, WA
- Tony Howard, former Assistant Superintendent of Human Resource Services, Richland School District, WA
- David Woods, Middle School Principal, Eastmont School District, WA
The top four candidates are scheduled to participate in final district interviews with the Waitsburg School Board and district staff on Monday, March 13. An open community forum will be held in person the evening of March 13 from 7:00-8:00 PM at the Waitsburg High School Gymnasium. All Waitsburg residents are encouraged to attend the community forum where they will be able to hear from each candidate.
The last contract day for current Waitsburg Superintendent/Elementary Mark Pickel is June 30, 2023. The Waitsburg School Board will meet to deliberate on the evening of March 13, following the interviews. The school board anticipates making a formal announcement identifying the successful candidate on March 14. The individual selected as Waitsburg’s next Superintendent/Elementary Principal will begin their position on July 1, 2023.
