Local voters will be asked to vote on the renewal of Waitsburg School District’s two-year Educational Programs & Operation (EP&O) Levy on February 13, 2024. During their regular meeting on December 7, the Waitsburg School Board approved a resolution to place the $1,598,760 EP&O Levy on the upcoming February special election.
If approved by voters, levy funds will be used to continue educational programs in our schools that are not fully funded by the state. Some of the key programs, services, and staffing funded by Waitsburg’s levy include smaller class sizes, athletics, extra-curricular activities, classified and certificated staffing, preschool, after-school programs, transportation costs, technology, maintenance and operations, nutrition services, and much more.
The proposed 2024 levy will replace Waitsburg’s expiring levy that was approved by voters in 2022. If approved, a total of $761,326 would be collected in 2025, and $837,434 in 2026. The estimated tax rate for the proposed EP&O Levy is $2.50 per $1,000 assessed value.
Waitsburg’s proposed replacement levy will appear on the February 13, 2024, election. Local voters can expect more information after winter break on planned informational meetings from the district. Ballots will arrive at the end of January. Detailed information and resources can be found on the district’s website at www.waitsburgsd.org/levy.
